B obcat students, faculty, staff and alumni celebrated Ohio University’s 93rd Homecoming Oct. 5-11 with a week full of spirited and engaging activities and events.

The Homecoming 2015 theme was “Same Bricks, Different Stories,” highlighting irreplaceable memories and unique sagas from various members of the Bobcat community. The week ended on a high note, with a successful football win for the OHIO Bobcats, beating the Miami RedHawks 34-3.

Pack the Pantry 2015

On-campus members of Bobcat Nation participated in the second annual Pack the Pantry event, which served as a fantastic service opportunity for those interested in giving back to the local Athens community.

OHIO sororities and fraternities participated in a special Pack the Pantry Sorority and Fraternity Day on Tuesday, Oct. 6 as a part of the weeklong collection of food and cash contributions, all of which were donated to the Athens County Food Pantry.

Paint the Town Green, a Homecoming-themed decorating contest between OHIO departments and Athens businesses, had one of its most successful years yet with dozens of talented participants. Some of this year’s office winners included the College of Business in Copeland Hall, as well as the Bobcat Depot in Baker University Center, 1st floor. See a full list of winners here.

Pep Rally

OHIO’s traditional “Yell Like Hell” pep rally was a great success, drawing in large crowds of excited students and alumni on Thursday, Oct. 8. The Homecoming pep rally included performances by the Singing Men of Ohio and the Marching 110, and also featured appearances by OHIO President Roderick J. McDavis and Rufus the Bobcat.

On Friday, Oct. 9, the Ohio University Alumni Association and OHIO Intercollegiate Athletics held the Annual Awards Gala in the Baker University Center Ballroom. This black-tie reception and dinner celebrated OHIO’s most honorable alumni and friends. Read more about the Awards Gala and this year’s honorees here.

Alumni Coffee Hour

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, OHIO alumni and family gathered pre-parade at Baker University Center Front Room for free coffee, hot chocolate and fun OHIO giveaways like mugs, sunglasses and green and white pompoms.

Sponsored by the Campus Involvement Center, the 2015 Homecoming Parade featured dozens of OHIO-affiliated organizations and units, including the talented and entertaining Marching 110 and Marching 110 Alumni Band. Many University and Athens-area floats, banners and groups paraded around Union Street and Court Street spreading Bobcat spirit and enthusiasm for the Homecoming football game.

Members of the 2015 Homecoming Court are Hayley Baldzicki, Kiley Landusky, Meg Sanders, Jessica Wuensch, Rashaun Brown, Ryan Bush, Garrett Haptonstall and Cody Mack. After a vote from the student body, the Homecoming Queen and King were announced during Saturday’s match up against Miami. This year OHIO crowned Conor Emser and Elizabeth Oellermann as King and Queen.

The popular OHIO Vernon R. Alden Library Archives Display came back again this year and featured 20 tables complete with historic Bobcat materials representing the many different stories of OHIO’s distinctive past.

The highlight of the weekend for many alumni was seeing the Marching 110 Alumni Band perform with the current Marching 110 during the Homecoming game. Their rendition of “play that funky music white boy” was met with stadium-shaking applause. Here, the two groups practice together before the game.

The 2015 Bobcat Bash at Pepsi Tailgreat Park welcomed back Bobcat alumni of all ages with several stands and tents consisting of music, picnic food, beverages, games and OHIO giveaways. OHIO alumni and families got pumped for the Homecoming 2015 football game while sharing and discussing their favorite OHIO memories and stories.
